Some less composed writing about music.
Extended PLAY 1 by Prophet Thaddeus. I started listening to them as soon as their first EP came out cause sotc posted it on an instagram story (cause gio executive produced it & Mr Nolan plays guitar 4 sotc) and i absolutely loved it right away. I would go in and out of listening to it all the time & not at all. This period of listening 2 them constantly was brought on by reading the SAMMY'S WORLD article on them. Anyway i highly reccomend them cause ur not gonna hear anything that sounds like them. I guess its like if my favorite group (sotc) made punk music which thats what it is sort of. It sounds so great and the philosophy behind the sound and lyrics r great imo.
The Tw*ts by Bar Italia. Idk how i missed this when it came out cause i really liked the twits (the album b4 this EP) but either way ive heard it not and ive heard it a hundred times. I really really like this EP, maybe even more than any of their other stuff cause its kind of a less awkward version of what the band is without losing what makes them unique and great.
pushing daisies by julie. Really great shoegazer rock. Super full guitars with a great sound to them, really dancable drum beats and perfectly cool, emotional, and melodic singing. This EP has really inspired me -along with the reception to my last song, Washed (that the people its meant for actually heard it)- to make more music because it sounds pretty close to the music i want to be making, somewhere in between the swirlies and flyingfish (except ive got another angle on top of that which means im comfortable that nobody else could make the art that i make).
I've been listening to some Radiohead -mostly in rainbows and ok computer, some Bill Evans -the album Everybody Digs Bill Evans, and i've been listening to a little Candy Claws and Gary Wilson.

Sister by Sonic Youth. This is the first Sonic Youth album I've been listening to a lot. They're great and it's awesome sounding.
I LAY MY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU by jpegmafia. I love Peggy and i love this album. All My Heroes Are Cornballs is unbeatable but this for sure competes with Veteran for 2nd place in his discography. I'm so relieved he didn't fall off after those weak tracks he did on Vultures and the GHOST POP TAPE remaster which really took the feeling out for me. He's really one of the best alive and he's been kind of amazing at playing with fame since before he was famous like on Black Ben Carson. I'm seeing him perform next year which i'm excited for, i saw him on his LP! tour in '21 which was great. I got this style t-shirt at that show.
The album seems very hard rock inspired as you might expect with peggy these days but i also hear a lot of brazilian funk in this too which i was pleasantly surprised by. I really didn't like the singles at first because i was hoping for him to sing and cry more but they really grew on me, especially in context with the album. I'll need more time to think about what hes saying but theres a lot of funny lines in here which u love 2 see.
Hosono House by Haruomi Hosono. I feel like this was just my first step into his work cause i'm pretty sure he's super prolific and creative. He's another Paul Mccartney type.
Is This It by The Strokes. I'm not sure if the strokes are lame or not? Some of these songs are concerning with the womanizing but it sounds nice sonically. I'll look into it more if i get more into them. I listened to this mostly while drawing.
I've been listening to some Little Simz, mostly s.i.m.b.i., some bar italia, mostly The Twits, and i've been listening to a little Lush and Slowdive.

When I Get Home by Solange. I think this is one of my favorite albums & one of the best ever made (like Blonde, IGOR, All My Heroes Are Cornballs, Red Burns level modern classic).
Wood Tip by Zack Fox. Just beautiful, catchy, and soul filling 80s style rnb. It's like eating the best, most fulfilling stir fry you've ever had in audio form. Nice and short too. "put the r and b back in rnb". I really love how with this and "Dummy" Zack Fox is using and expanding 80s sounds and tropes tastefully, reviving them in the proper context; genuinely appreciating them while staying critical of the style's shortcomings to properly adapt them, in contrast to souless appropriations of the sound to cash in on nostalgia / what non artists see as a sure bet (which is what is killing all mainstream arts today).
Kid A by Radiohead. It is my favorite album. It speaks to my being like nothing else & i have too much to say about it & the stuff relating to it that if I wrote a whole page i wouldn't feel like i've said enough.
Blur by Blur. I honestly don't have much to say about this, i don't even fw every song like that but its for sure nice to listen to. I have a theory about artist archetypes; blur is a paul mccartney band and thats all i'll say.
Love Deluxe by Sade. My cat Pepsi died just under a week ago and Sade was the perfect level of soul without being wallowing for me to feel good while mourning. She was like 10 human years old and died of stomach cancer.
and ive been getting into sonic youth since i watched the Trash Theory video (great channel)
